The OldByreSkye cafe serves a small range of hot and cold food and drinks throughout the day, depending on the season.
We have a range of cafetiere and espresso coffees, most of which are roast on the Isle of Skye, teas, tisanes, and hot chocolate. If you want something cold we have a range of Fentimans’ mineral waters, fruit juice, bottled, and of course, tap, water!
We have cakes – usually a choice of three or four, such as chocolate fudge cake, coffee/walnut cake, oat slices and, if you are lucky, we may have our signature cranachan cheesecake! All our cakes and bread are home-baked, except for gluten-free bread which we buy from the Isle of Skye Bakery as it isn’t practical to make it ourselves given our size.
We always have a home-made soup and roll on the menu. Soups you might find include leek and bacon, sweet potato and coconut, white onion, mulligatawny, Italian vegetable and pasta, and chicken and sweetcorn: but we’re always experimenting!
For lunch in high season we also offer a choice of slowly roasted hot meat, maybe three-hour garlic lamb, or hot salt beef, on a home-baked roll or bread, with a suitable salad or slaw. We also have a cheeseboard of four Scottish cheeses, with our own pecorino shortbread, chutney, bread and oatcakes. There’s also usually a seafood option: usually smoked salmon. Keep a look-out for our one-off ‘celebration’ menu items, such as for St Andrew’s Day, National Pie Week, Chinese New Year and all sorts of things that take our fancy throughout the year.
All this and Wi-Fi too!
Menus are published daily on our Facebook page, so check out what’s on. We take most major credit/debit cards, subject to a minimum spend of £10.
